This is useful when you know you'll be going away for a while, and immediately want your displays to go into sleep mode. When you know you'll be going away for a while, you can immediately force your displays to go into sleep mode, conserving power.

   1 sudo  dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg -pcritical

Force monitors into DPMS sleep mode

When you know you'll be going away for a while, you can immediately force your displays to go into sleep mode, conserving power.

   1 xset dpms force off
